Racing

Introduction

Race Day

The club has an active race section which competes most Wednesday evenings during the lighter summer months and on Sunday mornings year-round.

Racing is a great way to develop your skills with friendly and exciting competition on the loch.

We aim to have one race on a Wednesday evening and two on a Sunday morning.

Organisation

Club members take it in turns to organise the race, man the committee boat, set the course and record the results.

Safety boats are provided by the Park

Sunday Racing

Each Sunday will have two General Handicap races based on PY numbers. PY numbers may be adjusted for spinnaker dinghies if members choose not to
use their spinnaker throughout a series.

We will run four Sunday series over 25/26 –

  • Spring Series – Sunday 2nd March till Sunday 25th May
  • Summer Series – Sunday 1st June till Sunday 31st August
  • Autumn Series – Sunday 7th September till Sunday 30th November
  • Frostbite Series –  Sunday 7th  December until February 25th 2026

The Club Championship will be based on the best aggregate results for a competitor over the Spring, Summer  and Autumn  Sunday Series.

A seperate Frostbite series will be run on Sunday mornings from December until late February 2026. This series will not count towards the Club Chapionship

Wednesday Racing

On Wednesday evenings between April and September we run two Pursuit Series.

  • Series 1 – Wednesday 2nd  April until Wednesday 18thJune
  • Series 2 – Wednesday 25th June till Wednesday 3rd  September

Wednesday evenings will have one Pursuit Race of 1 hour starting at 1830 hrs.  These races will be based on personal handicaps with the handicaps being
adjusted at the end of each month.

Benefits of Club Racing

It is a great way to meet people and helps develop sailing skills.

If you’ve never raced before why not come along and give it a go.
